Analysis of the relationship between football clubs with their fans on Facebook

E.Life , a company specializing in monitoring and analysis of the life of brands in social networks, presented a study that examines the relationship between ten clubs in Spanish football with his fans. To analyze this relationship, the study is divided into five sections:

First, we analyzed the number of fans of football teams. The FC Barcelona is the team that has fans on Facebook with 45,474,411. It follows the 42,780,577 Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid with 986,168 fans. The three teams with less followers are analyzed, the Real Zaragoza (25,685), the Royal Society (52,918) and Real Club Deportivo Espanyol (72,539).

Subsequently, we studied the engagement that lets you see what the fan response to posts that brands published. At this point and over the reporting period, Atletico Madrid is the leader, generating engagement of 0.35% among its fans. The posts that more engagement have generated were those who hung Atletico in his Facebook page supporting and communicating their victories. Fans of the Royal Society, with 0.34% of engagement , are second in the list that most publications are committed to your team. It is followed by Real Betis, with 0.32%. Clubs that less engagement are generated, the Athletic Club (0.06%), Valencia CF (0.12%) and FC Sevilla (0.13%).

Also measured the " Talking About ", the time that a follower of a club related content shared his team Facebook pages and their dispersion among his own followers. Here stand the references to Real Madrid, detecting more than 26,171,345 references to the club out of your Fan Page.15,817,668 is followed by comments 546 079 FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid comments. Fans less active in unofficial Facebook pages clubs are; Real Zaragoza fans (22,895 comments), the RCD Espanyol (61,919) and Athletic Club (74,692).

A posteriori, we have tried to measure the type of interactions , if by "likes", comments or sharing content that the brand has posted. The FC Barcelona and Real Madrid to have as many fans, also have the most interactions are, 6,974,353 and 5.44.2167 respectively. Fans of FC Barcelona use more the "I like", while Real Madrid fans are the most shared and viralizan content about your club.

The study has also considered what type of content (photos, videos, links and status changes) are the most posted by the teams on their Facebook walls. The trend is that football teams publish more photos and status updates on your profile. For teams, the most public changes to your profile, is the Athletic Club (94%), followed by the Real Zaragoza (72%) and FC Sevilla (27%). With respect to the publication of photos, the team that gets on his wall photos is Valencia CF (99%). Followers FC Barcelona (97%) and Real Betis (81%). The club that hangs on your profile links is the RCD Espanyol (54%), followed by Atletico Madrid (47%) and the Royal Society (46%). In fact, Atletico Madrid is not only one of the most shared links, but also the one that hangs on your wall videos (53%). Followers Real Sociedad and Real Zaragoza (both 22% respectively), and Real Betis (17%).

Finally, we measured the time it takes each team to answer a follower on Facebook. Here it was found that during the period under review, the clubs do not respond to comments left by his followers on Facebook. The only yes they did, were the Sevilla FC and Real Betis which took between 10 and 90 minutes in answering users.

Football clubs draw crowds and it is logical that this is reflected in social networks. Fans of both teams are usually very faithful. They seek out and follow their teams to stay abreast of the latest news, to see pictures of the training, to participate in sweepstakes, etc.. It is a very devoted audience and clubs just have to go looking, rather the opposite.
